Jaw Dropping Momemts From The Oscars 2017

February 27, 2017

  1. LA LA LAND SWEEPS THE OSCARS.
Many expected La La Land to do very well at this year's Academy Awards, and guess what, it still won an astonishing six Oscars including Best Actress, Best Director and Best Original Score. Even though it lost the Best Picture category to Moonlight and it won fewer awards than expected, La La Land in some people's view is still the true victor of the 89th Academy Awards.

    2. ARE YOU KIDDIN ME!!

Ok this is no joke. The craziest moment of the night, which will go down as one of the biggest mistakes in Oscar history, saw the Best Picture prize handed to the wrong film.
Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway reunited to present the last prize of the night, providing a long pause before stating that La La Land had won.
But as the team behind the hit musical delivered their speeches, it was revealed that Moonlight had actually won Hollywood’s top honor. Beatty explained that he’d been given the envelope for Best Actress, which La La Land’s Emma Stone did win. Amid all the chaos, Moonlight’s shocked representatives got their moment in the spotlight.

    3. SUICIDE SQUAD BRINGS ONE HOME.

Suicide Squad had to be one of the best movies the DC Cinematic Universe had to offer. Warner Bros. panicked after the negative response toward Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and decided to rip apart the entire movie ahead of its release. One of the highlights of the movie was the colorful makeup, but I didn't even consider the fact that the movie would not only be nominated but win the Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

    4. ROASTED!!

It didn’t take long for Kimmel to turn his opening monologue into a savage roast of President Donald Trump. After noting that the ceremony was "being watched live by millions of people in 225 countries that now hate us," Kimmel singled out the "mediocre" and "overrated" Meryl Streep — prompting a standing ovation for the celebrated actress.

    5. IN LOVING MEMORY.

The internet shamed the year 2016 for taking so many amazing people from the world, including our one and only princess Carrie Fisher. With so many deaths, the ''In Memoriam'' reel was destined to make us cry — and it did. Not only did the reel focus on A-list performers, but on those talented behind-the-scenes people whose passings may have slipped under our radars. We can only hope another year doesn't pass by that takes as many people as 2016 did.
